RAMSMUN II
AISG’s Model United Nations club, RAMSMUN, hosted their second annual conference over the weekend. This year’s conference theme was Pioneering New Beginnings, which was very fitting as it was the first in-person conference AISG has hosted since before the pandemic.
To kick off the opening ceremony, we were honored to host the Consul General of Israel, Mr. Alex Goldman Shayman, who spoke about his own experience with diplomacy and joint projects that were focused on having an open dialogue, a critical element in Model United Nations. It was a super rewarding experience for students to listen and learn about.
Along with our own MUN delegates, RAMSMUN II welcomed students from Utahloy International School of Guangzhou and Vanke Meisha Academy in Shenzhen. Together, students worked together to form the Food and Agricultural Organization Committee and the UN Committee on Peaceful Uses of Space.
It was an exciting weekend of fruitful debates and passionate discussions, with delegates coming to multiple successful resolutions from the two committees. They tackled issues regarding the regulation of territory ownership in space for economic use such as mining, and the promotion of new, sustainable, agricultural practices.
The RAMSMUN Secretariat team is excited to use this year's success as a platform for future conferences!
What is Model United Nations (MUN)?
Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational simulation program that brings together students from all around the world to engage in a series of interactive debates and discussions on current international issues. MUN provides students with the opportunity to learn more about the world and gain a better understanding of the complexities of international relations.
Through MUN, students gain valuable leadership skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, problem solving, and research. Students must also develop an understanding of the various countries and their interests and perspectives on global issues. During MUN simulations, delegates represent the interests of their assigned countries and must try to negotiate and come up with a consensus to address the international issues at hand.
At AISG, we offer an array of opportunities which allow students to pursue passions ranging from robotics to yoga, and journalism to mother-tongue programs.
