Henry Evans

As a part of our Speaker Series, Mr. Henry Evans, visited AISG on September 17-20, to work with our Middle School students on Climate Change and Marine Biologist Sustainability.

Henry is a British scientist who set up a science education organization in 2012 called Magnificent Ocean. He has a Bachelor of Sciences in Marine Biology, has a Master in Climate Change Science and a few years ago was part of a 2-man skiing expedition to the South Pole in Antarctica. Henry is a published author and has visited international schools worldwide to communicate environmental issues to students of all ages. He maintains a positive outlook on the future due to the passion and care he often finds in younger generations. Currently living in Denmark, Henry recently started a PhD at the University of Copenhagen with a focus on Sustainability Educaiton.

During his visit at AISG, Henry gave an engaging presentation about his expedition to Antarctica, providing details, photos, and other visuals that had the kids sitting on the edge of their seats. In small groups, Henry proved to be a natural teacher, using instructional strategies that kept students engaged and making changes to fit the needs of each class. As climate change continues to threaten our planet, Henry’s work in schools becomes more and more relevant, not to mention, more necessary.

He inspired our students to further their study about our planet’s current crisis and what we can do about it.
