Congratulations Grade 5 students, you’re moving up! Administration, teachers, caregivers, and Grade 4 students attended their Moving Up Ceremony this week to celebrate our students’ achievement of completing Elementary and the IB PYP!

Our students kicked off the ceremony by singing “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars, accompanied by some of our students on piano and ukelele! It was a lovely celebration of friendship and community between our students.

The morning included an opening speech from Elementary Principal Mrs. Virginia Udall, who shared some words of encouragement, celebrated the hard work our students have done, and shared how much our students have learned and grown over the years.

Our Grade 5 teachers also gave heartfelt speeches, sharing the memories they’ve made this year with their classes and how proud they are to see our students succeed. Students got up on stage one-by-one to receive their certificates and we could see the sense of accomplishment on their faces!

Four of our students also got onstage to share some of their favorite memories from the year! These included the PYPx, building their island in their gamification unit, swimming in our Science Park pool for the first time, their unity games, and more. They also thanked their caregivers and educators for supporting them and helping them learn and grow.

Our Secondary Principal Mrs. Lori Marek closed out the ceremony with a speech welcoming them to Lower Secondary! Our Deputy Director Mr. Jamie Robb also awarded two students the prestigious Tim Lee Award, honoring their embodiment of the IB PYP learner profile and their unwavering commitment to going above and beyond.

Completing the IB PYP is a huge accomplishment, and we are immensely proud of our Grade 5 students. We know they will continue to make lasting impacts as they move on to Lower Secondary and continue onto the IB MYP. AISG is an IB Continuum School, which is designed to provide students with a challenging academic curriculum that fosters exploration, critical thinking, and innovative learning. We are confident that our students are well equipped to continue their path of personal and academic success.
