Beyond the Spotlight: Learning Through the Arts
AISG’s Performing Arts Program, from Pre‑Kindergarten to Grade 12, is a defining feature of our holistic education and one of the most established in Guangzhou’s international school community. Blending academic rigor with creative opportunity, it builds artistry, confidence, collaboration, and critical thinking, empowering students to express themselves and connect with a global audience. Woven throughout the curriculum, the arts make performance and creative expression an authentic part of learning — preparing students with both the knowledge and the passion to make a lasting impact beyond school.

This spring showcased that spirit! Whether telling a powerful story, bringing beloved films to life through song, or performing whimsical dramas, our students learn the skills, discipline, and joy that come from creating together and sharing their art with the community. Check out these four unforgettable events that occurred just in the month of May.

Go West! - Grade 4 Musical
Our young performers took audiences back to the mid‑1800s United States in Go West!, discovering that true gold isn’t the kind made into bars and trinkets, but the inspiration found in opportunity, fresh starts, and attainable dreams. With engaging storytelling and spirited performances, students captured the promise and resilience of those who dared to journey west.

MYP Arts Festival – Showcasing Grades 6 to 10
The MYP Arts Festival highlighted the creativity and talent of our Grade 6–10 students across the Middle Years Programme. The event featured performances in Music — including Strings, Band and Choir — alongside engaging Drama productions. Visual Arts students also showcased their work in a vibrant display, turning the theater lobby into a gallery of artistic expression. Together, these performances and exhibitions celebrated the diverse strengths of our arts community and the collaborative spirit that defines the MYP experience.

AISG Goes to the Movies – Grade 2 & 3 Spring Concert
Grade 2 and 3 students filled the room with cinematic magic in AISG Goes to the Movies. Featuring songs from a wide range of favorite films, the concert celebrated musical diversity and student growth. After weeks of practice, their polished performances, matched with enthusiasm and stage presence, had the audience tapping along and cheering loudly.

Bugz! – Grade 2 & 3 EASA Musical Drama
In a lively and heartwarming adaptation of Bugz!, Grades 2 and 3 invited everyone to a country‑style picnic with singing critters, only to face an unexpected guest — the Stink Bug! Students brought humor, charm, and teamwork to the stage as their characters worked together to save the party, leaving the audience smiling from ear to ear.

These productions reflect the essence of AISG’s Performing Arts: giving students authentic opportunities to express themselves, develop skills, and connect with their audience. Each show was a celebration of talent, hard work, and the joy of performance — proof that the arts at AISG truly make an impact both on and off stage.
