5 Honest Reasons to Join the AISG Alumni Network
Let’s be honest, Graduation is the end of a chapter. But as the American International School of Guangzhou (AISG) Class of 2026 prepares to graduate, there is one important reminder: leaving AISG does not mean leaving the community behind. In fact, for many alumni, the AISG connection becomes even more meaningful after graduation.
Sometimes, it can feel like an alumni network is something for “later”. Something you join when you are “older”, settled into your career, or looking back after many years away. But AISG alumni are showing us something different. Whether they graduated more than a decade ago or only one year ago, staying connected has already shaped friendships, opened doors, created opportunities, and kept the feeling of RamNation alive.
Here are five honest reasons why being part of the AISG Alumni Network matters.
One: AISG Still Feels Like Home
For Andy Hyunwoo Jeong, Class of 2019, the alumni network has meant “keeping in touch with friends,” feeling “a sense of family,” and staying connected to the AISG community.
That connection has continued in meaningful ways over the years, from receiving advice from school faculty about education to returning to campus to cheer for the varsity volleyball team.
“I go and cheer for our varsity volleyball team,” Andy shared. “It has allowed me to bring back the energy and the Ram spirit I had when I was young.”

Two: Connection Can Lead to Real Opportunities
Jessie Keesari, Class of 2025, graduated last year, and is already experiencing the value of the alumni network.
As she finished her freshman year of university, Jessie described the pressure of securing a strong summer internship as intense. Through the AISG Alumni Network, she was able to connect with the right people and secure an internship with That’s Guangzhou.
“It’s an incredible opportunity, and I’m genuinely grateful for the support and connections the network provided,” Jessie shared. “Even if you’re not actively looking for job opportunities, joining the network is still incredibly valuable,” Jessie said. “It helps you stay connected, and you never know when or where you might meet a fellow AISG alum somewhere in the world.”

Three: The AISG Community Will Always Have Your Back
For Hengyu Zhou, Class of 2025, the alumni network has helped keep friendships and professional connections with upperclassmen and teachers alive after graduation. When Hengyu was looking for a university job without previous work experience, those relationships made a difference. “I asked for job recommendations from teachers I worked with during Secondary School,” Hengyu shared. “It saved my life when I wanted a university job but had no previous work experience.”
Her advice to current Grade 12s captures it perfectly: “It’s great to have someone to back you up when you’re trying to prove that you’re awesome.”

Four: I Feel Like I Belong Somewhere!
For Elsie Zhang, Class of 2024, staying connected to AISG has created a “sense of belonging” through both old and new connections.
“It has helped me stay connected to a place and the people who have shaped me into who I am today.” Elsie shared.

Five: One Day, You May Want to Reconnect!
For Calder Diong, Class of 2009, being part of the AISG Alumni Network has always been connected to giving back. “It has always been about giving back to the school and society,” Calder shared. “Hoping that we can provide a better learning environment for our next generations.”
“You may not treasure what the school has provided and given to you right now,” Calder shared, “but down the road, you will one day look back and want to reconnect with everyone.”

For the Class of 2026, we are excited to welcome you into the AISG Alumni Network–a community that can support you, surprise you, open doors for you, and will always welcome you back. Once a ram, always a ram!
